A comprehensive review of curricular materials available commercially was conducted by TEAM professionals in the STATEWIDE PRESCHOOL AUDITORY-ORAL DEMONSTRATION PROJECT. Curricular materials supporting the development of spoken language were reviewed in the following domains: auditory comprehension including phonetic listening, auditory memory, auditory sequential memory, auditory discrimination training, and auditory understanding, speech perception and speech production, language learning in the areas of vocabulary, syntax, semantics and pragmatics, phonemic awareness, early literacy development and preschool readiness content area skill development.
In addition to the material review, program observations were made to both private and public auditory-oral programs where a review of curricular materials was incorporated in the site visit.
As a result of the review and site visits to programs, the following curricular materials were chosen as resources by the TEAM of professional educators and SLP in the STATEWIDE PRESCHOOL AUDITORY-ORAL DEMONSTRATION PROJECT. These curricular materials supporting auditory skill development and spoken language development were integrated with curricular materials utilized by students in the School District of Waukesha.
