This online course provides regular education teacher with a foundation in understanding hearing loss, the causes of hearing loss, and the impact of a hearing loss on education available for one graduate credit through Alverno College. Visual Phonics
November 10-11, in Appleton, WI
Bettie Waddie-Smith, speech-language pathologist for the Laurent Clerc Center at Gallaudet University, along with Vanessa Wilson, speech-language pathologist in the Virginia Public Schools, will train participants in “See the Sound Visual Phonics.” Visual Phonics pairs a print symbol and hand symbol to represent speech sounds. Participants will learn how to produce hand symbols, how to recognize print symbols, as well as strategies to apply the Visual Phonics system in the classroom or speech and language room.
