Kellogg Child & Family Program
Center for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing ckometer@cdhh.org

The Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing provides services for people with hearing loss from birth through old age.  The goals of the Kellogg Child & Family Program are to build children’s communication skills and enhance their families’ ability to communicate with them.  Parents learn about communication options so that they can make informed decisions about what is best for their child and family.  Specialists in Deaf Education, Speech-Language Pathology and Auditory-Verbal Therapy work with each child and family to optimize communication and language development using the mode the parents have chosen.  Services are provided in the home or other natural setting, such as daycare, as well as in toddler communication groups that promote interaction with peers.  Parent education and support is an important part of the Program.  Workshops and meetings are held frequently to address issues of importance and concern.  In addition, CDHH provides fine arts opportunities for children, including the “Children of the Sun” Drum Troupe, a weekend Family Learning Vacation, social activities for families and much more.
