The
School District of Waukesha and professionals providing auditory-oral programming for children utilize state of the art technology to acclerate communication, collaboration, and student achievement.
COMMUNICATION
- Families are provided with daily communication from professionals utilizing email and digital photos taken during the school day of preschool children participating in language learning activities.
- School team members, SLP's, TOD's, and the auditory training specialist exchange lesson plans through email communication.
- Individual educational plans are created through OASYS, a software online program, and shared with team members for quarterly updates. Quarterly updates of student progress can be emailed and shared with parents.
COLLABORATION
- Two way communication with our community partner Medical College of Wisconsin/Children's Hospital meets student needs related to ongoing information sharing related to student progress, cochlear implant mapping sessions, consult regarding audiological equipment management and troubleshooting strategies, and assessment of student performance.
STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
- To maximize instructional learning and to best utilize space, music practice suites/sound isolating modular rooms were installed in the early childhood auditory-oral preschool, the kindergarten auditory-oral classroom, and the speech and language therapy suite. - To increase phonemic awareness, auditory discrimination, auditory comprehension, and auditory memory, sound blending, rhyme discrimination, and auditory tracking at the sentence level educational software purchased acclerates student learning.
